Renowned Malaysian Designer Edric Ong presents his ‘NOMAD’ Collection at Fashion London during London Fashion Week on 20 th September 2025 at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, London.
Inspired by the nomadic and indigenous cultures of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, Philippines and Central Asia, the eclectic styling of transcultural textiles, hand crafts, accessories come together into an evolved fashion statement! From the handwoven ikat textiles and woven leather of Narda’s of the Cordilleras in Baguio, Philippines to the Nuno-felts of Kazakhstan artists, these were combined with natural dye, handwoven silks and cottons.
Sarawak Orang-Ulu unique palm leaf ‘sabit ukong’ rain-cover and the rattan ‘topi tunjang’ hats are also a signature style of Edric Ong. The unique hand painted Dayak motifs on vests and shoes by Abot Gudang, or the EO designed combination of Kazakh felted slippers on Peranakan Chinese wooden clogs are new accessories launched in the EO Nomad Collection!
The EO brand by Edric Ong is in the forefront of Eco-Fashion and Slow Fashion, consciously working with communities of weavers and crafts artists to create and market ‘hand-made’ designs. Based out of Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, the unique fashion of Edric Ong combines a touch of the ethnic and oriental with the contemporary; innovative styles with creative use of hand-woven silks and cottons. He is a multi-awarded Malaysian designer of natural dye textiles, fashion and crafts having won the UNESCO-ASEAN Crafts Seals of Excellence Japanese “G” mark awards by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO).
Edric Ong was named the “Malaysian Designer of The Year 2009” at the Mercedes-Benz/Stylo Fashion Awards in Kuala Lumpur and “Global Influencer” in 2016. He has shown at London Fashion Week in 2022, 2023 and 2024. He remains in the forefront of Slow Fashion and Eco-Fashion in the Global Scene.
